Give Your Apartment Even More Space: Apartment Living Tips

Add depth to any room!

Hey everyone! When it comes to apartment living, who doesn’t need a little extra space sometimes? Did you know that with a little moving around and redecorating,  you can make the already spacious 800-900 sq ft 1 bedroom apartment at the Amber Chase Apartments look even bigger? These tips, courtesy of ehow.com will tell you how:

  • Try not to fill your apartment with small furniture. Though they may seem appropriate when trying to fill a smaller space, they can make an apartment seem a bit cluttered.  Instead, choose a few nice medium sized pieces that accent the apartment.
  • Use mirrors to reflect light into dark spaces and create the illusion that there are more rooms. You can add an entire wall of mirrors to give a room more depth. A mirror made to look like a window placed across from an actual window will give you an outdoor view on more than one apartment wall.
  • Avoid positioning all of the furniture around the perimeter of the apartment. Instead, place some pieces at angles.
  • Use space saving measures such as under the bed storage or wall hooks to keep clutter off of the floor and furniture.
  • Don’t be afraid to experiment!

You can find these tips and more at ehow.com.

Tanger Outlets

Tanger Outlets

Hey everyone! Have you ever been to the Tanger Outlets in Locust Grove? It’s a great place to shop; it has all the latest styles and trends at remarkable prices! You won’t see these unbelievable prices on name brand items in any mall, I’ll tell you that. The biggest ‘yes’ factor is that the outlet is only about 10 minutes from the Amber Chase Apartment Community! How amazing is that; all of this shopping right in your backyard!

Along with great shopping, Tanger Oulets encourages families to get fit! In October, they will be hosting their 2nd Annual Fit For Families 5K Run/Walk in Locust Grove. Their aim is to bring people together this fall to promote and encourage a happy, healthy lifestyle, and to fight breast cancer. Proceeds from the race will benefit the American Cancer Society.

The race is a timed 5K (3.1 mile) run, which begins at Tanger and ends at Tanger, after going off site, on October 9, 2010. Everyone who finishes the race will receive a medal, and those who pre-register will receive a race pack which includes a commemorative race t-shirt, Tanger shopping discounts and other goodies. Prizes will be awarded to division winners as well as the top 3 male and top 3 female winners.

Marathon Runners

I know that the race is over a month away, but I think this is prime time for you to seriously consider it. That way, you can start training for it much sooner. The registration fee is only $25, and online registration ends October 7th. This is sure to be great fun (for those who like marathons), and a chance to help a worthy cause.

Hey Amber Chase! Since it’s summer, you want to get away when you can. The only thing that’s hindering you may be your budget. Fear not, there are plenty of places around the area where you can ‘stay’cation. For example, a staycation destination that’s only about  20 minutes from Amber Chase Apartments is the Clayton County International Park Beach.

This ‘beach‘ is a gem inside of Clayton County, though it’s not actually a beach. It’s a spring fed lake that features adventure kiddie pools, slides, sand, water trampoline and sun deck. You can get married here, play tennis, workout, or even catch a movie under the stars on certain days. Just imagine that you’re at an expensive resort; you have the same activities, and you’ve saved hundreds of dollars. You get all of this for only $11 for adults and $9 for Seniors and kids.

So when you want to get away from the apartments for a while, or even the McDonough area check out Clayton County International Park ‘Beach‘. But if you just want to get a good swim in, the Amber Chase Swimming Pool is always a good choice ;)

Where do you like to go on vacation/staycation?

Hey Amber Chase residents! Being the super great people that you are, we know that you care about your community as much (if not more) than we do! As part of the Fogelman C.A.R.E.S initiative, and our loving nature ;) , our charity is the Special Olympics!

We’re always looking for more fun and creative ways to sponsor and raise money for the Special Olympics, so we turned to a little yellow friend for help!

The Atlanta Duck Derby is benefiting the Special Olympics. Just one duckie adoption will help one of the 23, 078 athletes. For a donation of $5 or more, a lucky prize number will be assigned to a yellow rubber duck in your honor. All ducks will race against each other in the annual Duck Derby held at Six Flags White Water (in the little Hooch) on June 25th at 2 pm. If your little duckie is the first to cross the finish line, you win! The Top Duck Winners receive GREAT prizes! You don’t have to present to win, but it’s highly encouraged!

Amber Chase Apartments has their own special team that you can join! Click adopt a duck; then Adopt a Duck by selecting your favorite team, finally select Amber Chase. We really want to submit a great offering, so any donation is welcome!

You can increase your chances to win by buying a Quack Pack. Your $25 donation will hatch five adopted ducks to be entered into the race for an increased chance to win AND you’ll be mailed an adorable souvenir junior duck. Your $25 Quack Pack Quack donation provides funds for gold, silver, and bronze medals and other ribbons for one competition at the State Summer Games.

If you don’t want to register online, stop by the office to complete an application form.  Come on Amber Chase and show that you care! Your neighbors down the road at Southwinds Stockbridge are participating as well!

Let’s get those donations in!

Hey Amber Chase! Are you looking to get fit for the summer? Do you thrive in a class environment rather than going to a gym or fitness center to work out by yourself? Well, you’re in luck, because classes are available through Henry County Parks and Recreation. Whether you’re looking for Yoga, Pilates, ab workouts, strengh training, or just dancing the carbs away, they have it all just for you!

What’s your favorite way to work out?

NEW YORK - AUGUST 04: Women in high heels stan...

This blog goes out to my ladies! With the recent ‘Sex and the City 2′ craze, and the summer movie season launching, I’ve decided to compile a list of the top 5 movies that  you should see with your gal pals. Many of them you’ll have to have a Blockbuster night to see, but with popcorn, girl talk, and cosmos abound, that sounds almost as fun as a night out on the town right? Check the list:

  1. Thelma and Louise (1991)
  2. Troop Beverly Hills (1989) – This is easily one of my favorite movies. Favorite scene is the one where the skunk wandered into camp!
  3. Steel Magnolias (1989)
  4. Fried Green Tomatoes (1991)
  5. Sex and the City 1 and 2 (Just to keep it modern ;) )

Do you have any to add to this list?

Just when you thought you couldn’t get enough…

Just when you thought you couldn’t get enough, I brought you another animal video! This one is of a lamb trying to find his owner, and doesn’t think (or isn’t smart enough) to see his owner right in front of him. :) Mashable often lists its favorite videos of the week, and I stay entertained because of it, so I thought, why not share it with Amber Chase. Now, this video isn’t on the Mashable list, but it’s on mine! Check it out!

Memorial Day Getaway

Lake Lanier at River Forks Park in Gainesville...

Looking for something different to do for Memorial Day weekend? You don’t even have to leave the state. Visit Lake Lanier for a water filled weekend.

I went once with a friend of mine and had a blast. We cooked out with her dad, took pictures on the beach, went fishing, and water skiing. It was so relaxing and fun! I think that it’s a great Memorial Day destination.

You don’t necessarily have to stay overnight, just a day trip would be amazing. It takes about an hour and a half to get there from Amber Chase Apartments, but it’s well worth the drive. As long as weather permits. :)

What are you doing for Memorial Day weekend?

It’s no surprise that ‘Shrek Forever After’ topped the billboard charts this weekend. What’s not to love about the “affable” (note the sarcasm)  green ogre?

Though the opening weekend wasn’t as good as it’s predecesors, (“Shrek the Third” made 121.6 million opening weekend, while “Shrek Forever After” only made 78.6 million), people everywhere fell in love with the A-list of characters all over again.

I haven’t seen it yet, but it’s definitely on my list of things to do.

On another note, SNL’s “MacGruber” didn’t do so well at the box office; it debuted at No. 6. Studios aren’t made however, it cost less than $10 million to make. Of course they want bigger numbers, but when you’re competing with Shrek and Iron Man, ANY numbers is  great. :)

Did you go to the movies this weekend?

Covertible dresses = money saved!

Hey ladies, even in these rough economic times you want to look good right? If you’re like me, you’re always looking for more bang for your buck. Well, I’ve come across two dresses that are sure to deliver.

One dress is a Jersey a-line convertible dress, available at Victoria’s Secret for, get this, $30!!! That’s a steal! The cute, summer dress can be converted 6 ways for a classic look that you can’t get anywhere else. You can even come up with  your own style.

Walmart is also offering an all in one jersey dress. You can wear it in bunch of different ways (full dolman sleeves, one shouldered, strapless), but the funky, artistic draping really makes it a stand-out. Walmart has really come up in the world with it’s clothing. I may have to skim their racks more often if I can find more little gems like this. And it’s only $24!

I don’t know about you, but I’m going shopping right now!
