Hey Amber Chase! This post goes out to all the ladies. Have you ever been walking alone at night anywhere and felt an anxious feeling settle over your body? That, or have you listened to stories of attacks on the news and wondered what you would do if you were ever faced with that situation? If so, then a women’s self defense class may be just what the doctor ordered.

The Women’s Self Defense Program through the Henry County Police Department is dedicated to empowering women with knowledge to reduce the occurrence of sexual assault crimes. It also helps to give you self confidence and a new feeling of power.

Classes begin with risk awareness, risk reduction, crime prevention strategies, and defensive concept instruction, followed by hands on defensive training. This way you get a well rounded course without being sent out without a plan.

The class is open to women ages 18 and up; men are not permitted, except for those teaching the class.  These classes are offered several times throughout the year by the Police Department. Classes meet 3 times for one week and are held on Thursday and Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 to 12:00 a.m.

Contact the Henry County Police Department for more details at (770) 288- 8200.

Remember, it’s best to be prepared for anything.
