Amber Chase, I can be honest with you. When I watched the Jetson’s when I was younger, I thought that a lot of the gadgets that they had were extremely cool. Who wouldn’t want an automatic hair styler? Or even moving sidewalks? (that would make a lot of things SO much easier!)

Well one invention of the Jetson’s may be coming to fruition in our very near future: the videophone.

Samsung says it will put the VoIP calling service Skype as an application on its televisions, allowing phone calls to be made on camera right from a couch. Panasonic and LG are putting this on their ‘to-do’ list as well. It’s already on my holiday wish list!

But everything has a price, and this miraculous invention is no different. It’s a little pricey with Panasonic selling theirs at $1,200 to $2,000. Samsung and LG have not yet announced how much they will charge.

This is beyond cool. I can wait until they come out, though I may have to wait until they come down in price. They’re slated to be released late-Spring.
